The land that is now Thomasville Estate has been in continuous documented use since 1809 — 217 years of almanac returns, compensation claims, directory entries, and living agricultural heritage. The heritage record reaches back further still: to Alexander Edgar of Auchingrammont in 1698, and to the Halse family's 1655 Venables expedition land grant that anchors the earliest layer of the chain.
From colonial sugar estate to Quaker mission chapel to heritage cocoa walk — the land has been continuously inhabited, cultivated, and documented. The 126-acre cocoa walk carries root systems estimated at over 100 years. The volcanic clay-shale soils that grew sugarcane in 1811 now grow fine-flavour Trinitario and Criollo-influenced cocoa. The continuity is unbroken.
